  • What eye shadow color should I wear?

Many women have asked this question, myself included. Well, after searching fashion magazines and makeup web sites, this is what I found:

If you have BROWN EYES: Lucky you, you can pretty much wear any color you want. You'll want to consider you skintone and hair color, as well. For example, Blue is recommended to make Brown eyes POP, but gee, there are a lot of different shades of blue out there. What I have found is lighter shades of blue look great on lighter skin, but tend to look like neon when used on darker skin - so use a darker blue like a navy - it looks absolutely gorgeous on darker complexions.

If you have BLUE EYES: Browns and Rose/Pink tones make your eyes POP. Wear these colors alone with similar shades, or wear the browns and pinks together - you might be surprised at how well they go together. You will want to consider your skin and hair color - are you warm toned (yellows/orange/peachy/gold tones of any color look better on you) or are you cool toned (true blues/pinks/black/navy look better on you) or somewhere in between? Get browns and pinks that fit with your TONE. Stay away from blue eye shadow, unless you like people to see your makeup before your eyes!

If you have GREEN EYES: Purple is the color for you. Choose the shade that will best go with your skin tone (warm or cool, dark or light). Unlike Blue eyed people, Green eyed people can wear matching eyeshadow (don't ask me why, I don't know, but it's true, I've tried it on many people). In fact, if you like color and aren't afraid of it (some of us are, that's okay), try using purple and green together, they look pretty cool, especially a mid-tone purple and a turquoise look fabulous together.

If you have HAZEL EYES: Much like Brown eyes you can wear most colors. Since there are many different kinds of Hazel out there, you will want to look closely at your eyes and see what different colors you have in there. Choose eye shadows that match a particular color that you want to stand out in your eyes.  Let's say you've got some beautiful honey-gold specks in your eyes - well find an eyeshadow that is a honey-gold and voila, your eyes will reflect more of the honey-gold than other colors in your eyes. Contrast colors work too, like using purple to make your hazel eyes appear more green and/or make the green in your eyes appear more dominant.

For ANY EYE COLOR: Browns are the safe, everyday, go-to color for everyone. There are probably dozens, if not hundreds, of different colors and shades of brown. Light, medium, dark, golden, grayish, pinkish, reddish, etc.

  • Tips for the New Mineral Makeup User

Okay. You just got your first loose mineral makeup package. Now what do you do first?

    1. If you bought new brushes with your package, clean them the night before you plan on using your makeup for the first time. Just use the same shampoo and conditioner that you use on your own hair. Rinse well and let them dry overnight and they'll be ready to go in the morning. Keep your brushes clean, as they will apply your makeup much better when they are clean. Depending on how much makeup you use and how often, you will need to clean your brushes anywhere from every week to every 2 weeks.

    2. Take the shrink wrap off your jars of makeup and take the lid off (this goes for the foundation, blush and bronzer).

    3. DO NOT REMOVE THE SIFTER STICKER!

    4. Now POKE 3-5 holes through the sticker (start with just 3 and use it for a few days before deciding to add a few more holes). This is the trick to keeping your loose mineral powder neat and easy to use, and keeps you from using too much.

    5. Remember this: Put on less and you can always add more if you need it, but put on too much and you have to wash your face and start over. BellaPierre Mineral Makeup sets extremely well and will last all day. It just takes a little practice to learn how to apply mineral makeup. That's why we like this makeup so much - a little goes a long way, great coverage, light-as-air feeling. So be careful and use a light hand. It won't be long before you'll figure out exactly the best amount and way to put it on your face.

    6. Before applying your mineral makeup, clean and moisturize your face. Then WAIT, while the moisturizer soaks in and your skin balances itself. Never apply your mineral makeup to a still "sticky" or "tacky" face. You will not like the results. Once your face is dry, you're ready to go. Now the minerals can bind with your skin and not the moisturizer.

    7. Be sure that once you pick up some minerals on the end of your brush, that you use the lid of the jar to swirl the brush and work the minerals into the brush. Tapping the brush, handle down, will also help but isn't always necessary. Then apply by sweeping the brush around the outside of your face and working your way in. Just remember: minerals IN and NOT ON your brush.
